SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Two people are behind bars - accused of child abuse and animal cruelty. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office told KELOLAND News the investigation began Monday with an investigation into a report of child abuse. Election Day: South Dakota polls open at 7 a.m. When a deputy went to a rural Lennox home to look into it the deputy found dozens of animals, and some of them are in rough condition. Heidi Ihnen, 44, and Clint Ihnen, 47, were booked into jail Monday night. They each face 4 counts of child abuse and more than a dozen counts of animal neglect. Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Swenson told KELOLAND News he believed there was close to 50 animals at the home. According to the city of Lennox website, Heidi is the city's finance officer. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department and the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society are involved Tuesday.  This is a developing story. Stay with KELOLAND News for more coverage online and on air.
