Vigo County Clerk warns of delay in results after 'obstructionous behavior'

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County could be in for a long wait for elections. Randy Gentry, the Chair of the Vigo County Republican Party, allegedly raised concerns about the election process.
That prompted an emergency meeting of the Vigo County Election Board at 9 a.m. Tuesday. During the meeting, the board approved the names of workers from each party counting absentee ballots.
Shortly after that concluded, Vigo County Clerk Brad Newman said the need for a meeting was a major setback.
"It's unfortunate because we had to wait to start doing our process until nine this morning, so I don't know that we're going to get everything done today," Newman said. "This will probably go into tomorrow and maybe Thursday just because of his (Gentry's) for lack of better words, obstructionous behavior. And quite honestly the people of this county deserve better, Republican or Democrat."
Newman ended by saying he would leave further comment on the matter to the legal team as he expects more to come out of this. We have reached out to Gentry for comment and he declined at this time.
