Police: Wisconsin driver hurt after crashing while going 100+ miles per hour

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (WFRV) - Police in Wisconsin say one person is hurt after they crashed their vehicle shortly after being seen going over 100 miles per hour.
According to a release from the Pleasant Prairie Police Department, officers from the Kenosha Police Department stopped a vehicle early Saturday morning for allegedly driving recklessly.

Police say the vehicle then fled from the scene leading to a short pursuit that was called off due to the driver's reckless behavior and the officer's knowledge of the driver's identity.
After the pursuit was called off, the same vehicle was seen by officers going south on 7th Avenue from 80th street traveling at over 100 miles per hour.
Shortly after that, officials say they found the vehicle crashed 65 feet off the roadway in a heavily wooded area on the 700 block of 91st Street in Pleasant Prairie.

Due to the severity of the crash and the difficult terrain, multiple fire and rescue crews were called in including the Kenosha County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) and Flight for Life.
91st Street was said to be closed for several hours while first responders worked to extricate the driver trapped inside the crashed vehicle.

Police say, once out of the vehicle, the driver was airlifted to a Milwaukee trauma center for treatment to injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening.
