Cause and manner of death in Allen County skeletal remains investigation still undetermined

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Back in March, skeletal remains were found off I-469 near Winchester Road in Allen County.
Investigators brought in cadaver dogs to investigate, along with a forensic anthropologist and a team from the University of Indianapolis’ Human Identification Center. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department determined the remains had been there for an “extended period of time.”
Later that month, the Allen County Coroner's Office used dental records to identify the remains as those of 31-year-old Cody Michael Rose. However, the cause and manner of death remained undetermined.
While the exact timeline is unclear, Rose was last seen in April 2022, when he left his home in the middle of the night. A missing person’s report was filed a few weeks later, and Rose appeared on local and statewide lists of missing people. At one point his family even offered a $1,000 reward for information on his whereabouts.
On Tuesday, the Allen County Coroner's Office released an updated autopsy report indicating that the cause and manner of death remain undetermined, however the investigation is still open.
