COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A suspect at the center of a multi-county manhunt was taken into custody Tuesday morning.
Deputies from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office assisted authorities out of Allendale County in the search for a man who ran from law enforcement following a vehicle chase.
The search included the areas of Ashton Road and Journey Road in Lodge; however, officials later announced the suspect was in custody after he was located just inside Bamberg County.
“Multi-agency collaboration has led to the suspect of an earlier manhunt being taken into custody safely and turned over to Allendale authorities,” Colleton County sheriff’s officials said in an update.

A post from the Allendale Police Department said the suspect was believed to be from North Carolina and that his partner may have stolen a vehicle. It initially involved agencies from Georgia and the Allendale County Sheriff’s Office, the department said.
At the time, authorities did not know if the suspects were armed. “They have shown extreme indifference for the safety of police officers and all citizens should use caution,” Allendale police said.
Allendale Police Chief Wiggins later said one of the suspects was taken into custody at a Hardees in Allendale. The other was arrested in Bamberg County.
