PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — It's Election Day, and if you're headed to the polls to vote, please take an umbrella! It's going to be a very mild day with cloudy skies and a 25% chance of showers. For the first half of the day, most of the showers will be west of Interstate 77. As we get into the afternoon, showers will become more likely across the Piedmont. All of the activity on the radar is expected to be rather light, but an umbrella is a good idea in case a shower develops in your area.  Highs today will be in the mid-70s. Overnight, clouds remain but showers taper off.  Lows will be in the lower-60's. A cold front to our west will slow down as it crosses Kentucky and Tennessee. Ahead of the front, temperatures remain in the mid-70s Wednesday and Thursday. We will keep showers in the forecast as well, with a 25% chance on Wednesday and a 50% chance on Thursday. Once the front comes through Thursday night, cooler air will work its way into the Piedmont. Scattered showers are expected Friday through Sunday, with rain chances between 30% and 40%. Highs will be near 70° Friday, then slide into the mid- to-upper-60s over the weekend. By Monday, temperatures will return to the mid-70s under partly cloudy skies.
