Brief drying trend ahead of late week storm
Nov 05, 2024
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- After a good soaking of rain in parts of Central Texas yesterday, our sunshine makes a quick comeback before another storm rolls in late week.
CENTRAL TEXAS RAINFALL TOTALS
A few spots of light rain linger this morning, but won't give us much in the way meaningful rain. For the majority of our Election Day, plan on drier weather taking over with increasing sunshine through the afternoon.
Temperatures should be noticeably cooler with afternoon highs only in the 70s.
Our next rain-maker arrives into Thursday and Friday with some lingering showers possible this weekend.
Tracking the Tropics
Tropical Storm Rafael formed Monday afternoon with expected development into a hurricane expected on Tuesday.
Tropical Storm Rafael track
This storm will head toward Jamaica and then Cuba before arriving in the Gulf of Mexico. Currently the NHC track has Louisiana in the cone for Saturday, but any westward shift would put Texas in play. We'll keep you informed as confidence in the direction of this storm becomes more clear.
