2 arrested in Madera Police's 'battle against narcotics'

MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Two men were arrested on Monday and accused of possessing hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana vapes for sale during two traffic stops, the Madera Police Department said.
Police say K9 Officer Romias, his partner Ulf and Officer Munoz were "hard at work in their battle against narcotics" on the streets, leading to the arrest of 20-year-old Jose Lorenzo and 18-year-old Andrew Mendoza.
Officers say Lorenzo was arrested under suspicion of possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms for sale and possession of a firearm not registered to him. A few hours later, Office Munoz joined their endeavors as he contacted and arrested Mendoza under suspicion of possession of marijuana vapes for sale.
Investigators add an unregistered handgun was also recovered as a result of Mendoza's arrest.
According to police, Lorenzo and Mendoza's arrest occurred during traffic stops in the downtown district on Monday afternoon. They were booked into the Madera County Jail.
