ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department released its top five auto theft offenders from this year and is hoping to get them behind bars ahead of the winter months. All of them have previously been arrested for receiving or transferring stolen cars and having drugs on them. Driver arrested after crashing into Albuquerque law firm’s office on Halloween In November 2023, APD announced the city is no longer in the top five national rankings for vehicle thefts but ahead of the winter months, the department is still asking the community to avoid leaving unattended cars running to warm them. First on the list are Brooke Gomez and Richard Chavez. They both have four warrants out for their arrest. Frances Dunaway, Cesar Chacon, and Ruben Ornelas Rodriguez have two active warrants. APD says anyone with information on their whereabouts can contact 242-COPS or Crime Stoppers.
