MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A popular Rhode Island clam shack is now under new ownership.
Heritage Restaurant Group, also referred to as Audrain Hospitality, announced Monday that it has acquired Flo's Clam Shack.
The clam shack, located on the Middletown-Newport border, has been serving up fried seafood since 1936.
"We are thrilled to welcome Flo’s Clam Shack into the Heritage family," Heritage Restaurant Group's Michael Anderson said. "This acquisition represents our commitment to upholding the rich legacy of Flo's while introducing new opportunities for growth and innovation. We look forward to building on its storied history."
Flo's will continue to serve its iconic menu of fresh, locally-sourced seafood under Heritage Restaurant Group's ownership.
Heritage Restaurant Group plans to not only preserve Flo's cherished history and community spirit, but also enhance its offerings.
Flo's Clam Shack joins the ranks of Heritage Restaurant Group's other popular spots, including La Forge Casino Restaurant, Wally's Wieners, Cluck House and Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant.
This comes less than a month after Heritage Restaurant Group revealed it would be acquiring The Red Parrot, an iconic Newport restaurant and Thames Street staple, at the end of the year.
