Mark Pope era begins with a 41 point win over Wright State

LEXINGTON, KY. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky opened their season with a 103-62 win over Wright State on Monday night, the most points ever scored in a Kentucky coach’s debut. The cats shot 60% from the field and 45.8% from the three.
Kentucky was led by Otega Oweh with 21 points. Amari Williams had a double-double, 12 points and 13 rebounds. The big statistic though, was 30 assists on 39 baskets; allowing six players to finish in double figures Monday night.
In perfect timing, the point differential in Monday’s game was 41 points. 41 being Head Coach Mark Pope’s number when he was a wildcat.
Next up the cats host Bucknell on Saturday at 4 pm at Rupp Arena.
