Toddler shot in Prince George's County: Man charged for leaving gun unsecured

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- An 18-year-old suspect was arrested after a toddler shot herself in Prince George's County over the weekend.
The Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD) said 18-year-old Elijah Fauntleroy of Temple Hills brought a gun into a home in the 600 block of Brookedge Court on Sunday afternoon.
He left the gun unattended in the living room, leading to a toddler-aged girl picking up the gun and accidentally shooting herself.

Crews responded to the incident shortly before 4 p.m. and took the young girl to the hospital. Fauntleroy grabbed the gun and ran from the home after the shooting, PGPD said.
The toddler was still hospitalized, but expected to make a full recovery, officials announced on Monday.
