Dry, windy weather this week elevates fire danger across Southern California
Nov 04, 2024
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The weekend rain won't do much to suppress the elevated-to-critical fire danger taking over Southern California for the first week of November.
A Santa Ana wind pattern is setting up to bring us warm and dry conditions Monday through the rest of the work week.
Northeasterly winds will particularly be concerning Monday afternoon for San Bernardino County and the inland empire up into the central coast of Santa Barbara County where Red Flag Warnings are in effect.
If a fire were to break out, current conditions would allow for it to spread and grow rapidly. It is important to always be fire safe, meaning have an evacuation plan and be ready to leave at a moment's notice.

A fire weather watch is in effect for San Diego from Wednesday evening into Thursday afternoon. Strong gusty winds and low relative humidity will take over portions of the San Diego mountains and eastern valleys, as well as the Riverside County mountains.
Locally, north to northeast winds will gust 20 to 25 miles per hour in most locations.
This weather pattern will bring widespread dry and warm conditions and elevated fire concern for all areas.
Temperatures for Tuesday afternoon are expected to hit the low 70s for the beaches, mid-70s for inland valleys, upper 60s for mountains and low 80s for the deserts.
