Jury selection in the state trial is expected to continue, and the trial is estimated to last seven days. Prosecutors plan on calling 32 witnesses in the trial.
Investigators found out the shotgun De La O had in his possession was altered with a pistol grip, and the barrel was sawed off. Officials said that gun was provided by 31-year-old Jonah Apodaca, who was recently sentenced to six years in federal prison.
De La O also faces federal charges of possession of a firearm not registered with the National Firearm Registration and Transfer Record, and possession of a firearm not identified by a serial number. That trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 26, 2025, according to the Department of Justice.
