2 suspects in Albuquerque store robberies take plea deals

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Two people involved in three violent robberies and a shoplifting incident on the same day in January took plea deals on Monday. The crime spree started around 5:30 p.m. on January 23. Six people walked into the Family Dollar on Sage Rd. in southwest Albuquerque, pepper sprayed an employee, beat up two more, threatened them with a gun, and left after stealing various items.

About 20 minutes later, they shoplifted from O'Reilly's down the road. They went on to assault employees at a nearby Autozone and Walgreens while robbing the stores.
Three brothers, Daniel, Dominick, and Rudy Chavez-Montoya along with Rudy's girlfriend Antoinette Mendoza were arrested. Mendoza pled guilty to shoplifting and conspiracy to commit shoplifting. The state agreed to two years of probation. A sentencing date has not been set.
Daniel Chavez-Montoya pled guilty to two counts of shoplifting and two counts of simple battery. His sentencing agreement puts a one-year cap on incarceration. Rudy Chavez-Montoya has a plea hearing scheduled for Tuesday. Dominic Chavez-Montoya pled not guilty to his charges. A trial date has not been set.
