ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Two people involved in three violent robberies and a shoplifting incident on the same day in January took plea deals on Monday. The crime spree started around 5:30 p.m. on January 23. Six people walked into the Family Dollar on Sage Rd. in southwest Albuquerque, pepper sprayed an employee, beat up two more, threatened them with a gun, and left after stealing various items. Driver arrested after crashing into Albuquerque law firm’s office on Halloween About 20 minutes later, they shoplifted from O'Reilly's down the road. They went on to assault employees at a nearby Autozone and Walgreens while robbing the stores. Three brothers, Daniel, Dominick, and Rudy Chavez-Montoya along with Rudy's girlfriend Antoinette Mendoza were arrested. Mendoza pled guilty to shoplifting and conspiracy to commit shoplifting. The state agreed to two years of probation. A sentencing date has not been set. Daniel Chavez-Montoya pled guilty to two counts of shoplifting and two counts of simple battery. His sentencing agreement puts a one-year cap on incarceration. Rudy Chavez-Montoya has a plea hearing scheduled for Tuesday. Dominic Chavez-Montoya pled not guilty to his charges. A trial date has not been set.
