PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- The Petersburg Public Library is holding a Centennial Gala to celebrate 100 years of operations this Thursday, with Deanna Allbrittin of 8News set to emcee the exciting milestone event. At 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, the Petersburg Library Foundation will hold a gala in honor of a century of community service at the library, located at 201 West Washington Street. While the library's 100th anniversary was in August, this November date holds equal importance. On Nov. 7, 1960, this Petersburg Library reopened as the first city-owned facility in Petersburg to be desegregated. Those interested in attending can purchase a ticket online while supplies last. The Foundation said this event is made possible by its "Signature Sponsors," the Roslyn Farm Corporation and Bon Secours.
