EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — People across Rhode Island will be heading out to vote on Tuesday, but the latest data from the R.I. Secretary of State's Office shows that more than a quarter of registered voters have already cast their ballots. As of 4:45 p.m. Monday, more than 171,000 people in Rhode Island had taken part in early voting, while the Board of Elections had received more than 48,000 mail ballots, for a total of more than 219,000. Warwick has seen the highest total turnout so far, while Cranston and Providence are not far behind. VOTER GUIDE: Where's my polling place for Election Day? In Massachusetts, more than 33% of residents have already voted, according to data released at 4p.m. Monday by the Secretary of the Commonwealth. More than 1.1 million mail ballots have been returned and almost 597,000 people took part in early voting, which ended on Friday. The data shows that Fall River and New Bedford are among the lowest turnouts for early voting, at 18% and 16.9%, respectively.
