SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — A Slidell man has been found guilty of molestation of a juvenile on Thursday, Oct. 31. The Office of District Attorney Collin Sims reported that a jury convicted 39-year-old Lenderay Wilson after a four-day trial. St. Bernard Parish drug investigation leads to two arrests According to court documents, in September 2021, a woman brought her daughter to the Slidell Police Department to report that the child had been molested for an extended period of time at a Slidell home. Court documents state that the victim disclosed to investigators that she had been inappropriately touched by Wilson multiple times and detailed the abuse. Lenderay Wilson (Courtesy: Office of District Attorney Collin Sims) The district attorney's office reported that the victim's mother confronted Wilson after learning about the abuse, and he "denied any wrongdoing." Following an interview with detectives, Wilson was arrested on charges of molestation and, according to court documents, was later released from custody after posting bond. French Quarter shooting leaves two wounded Court documents state that Wilson was ordered to stay away from and have no contact with the victim during his release. Following his release, law enforcement received a tip that the victim's mother allegedly allowed Wilson to continue to have contact with the child after she "brought her daughter to the District Attorney’s Office and the girl told prosecutors she had been confused and no longer believed Wilson abused her." On Thursday, Wilson was found guilty after a St. Tammany Parish jury deliberated for two hours. He faces up to 25 to 99 years in prison. Wilson's sentencing is set for Dec. 12.
