Man facing multiple charges after injuring officer during Eden traffic stop, police say

EDEN, N.C. (WGHP) — A man has been charged after allegedly dragging a police officer with his car over the weekend.
The Eden Police Department says they initiated a traffic stop on a 2004 Buick Lasbre on Stadium Drive near Edgewood Road on Sunday. The driver, identified as Jerry Mitchell, 46, of Reidsville, was "resistant" and would "not follow the commands of the officers."
Mitchell then drove off, dragging an officer down the road and injuring him. He drove away and did not stop for sirens or lights. An officer "conducted Precision Immobilization Technique" and Mitchell's car stopped off the side of Stadium Drive. He was taken into custody and was not injured.
The officer was treated at a local hospital and released.
Mitchell was given no bond and charged with:
Felony flee to elude arrest
Felony assault on a law enforcement officer
Felony resisting public officer inflicting serious bodily injury
Misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon
Two counts of misdemeanor reckless driving
Misdemeanor assault on a government official
Exceeding posted speed
Drive left of center
