Temperature drop expected this week, here's what to expect
Nov 04, 2024
(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Winter continues to ramp up across the region with Mother Nature expected to pay the area another visit Tuesday night. November has started off busy, but October was on the quiet side.
Just five days, out of the entire month, featured more than a trace of precipitation. Those five days came near the end of the month, with the day before Halloween being the busiest. Despite the relatively few days of precipitation, October still reported near-average numbers for precipitation. The total for the Colorado Springs area was 0.68 inches with the normal being 0.77 inches.
Temperatures in October were mostly above average
As far as temperatures go, the region has been on the warm side. The last 31 days had multiple afternoon highs that were above normal for that time of year. Only seven out of the last 31 days had highs that were below normal; Pueblo only had five.
Typically, early November has temperatures mostly in the middle to upper 50s. A sharp decline in average temperatures usually lasts through the holiday season. Current model projections are pushing deeper into the normal range later this week.
Looking forward to meteorological winter, temperatures will generally bottom out in the lower to middle 40s. The beginning of the New Year is one of the coldest times of the year here in Southern Colorado.
