PCSO activates EOC to monitor ballot drop boxes
Nov 04, 2024
(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Pueblo County Sheriff (PCSO) David Lucero has activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to monitor ballot drop boxes until Election Night.
Law enforcement will be visible around ballot drop-off sites throughout the city and county to ensure a safe election process.
"We take the safety and security of our election process seriously,” said Sheriff Lucero. “We want our citizens to know it’s safe to deposit their ballots in these drop boxes and that they will remain safe until they are counted.”
The Sheriff confirmed there have not been any issues in Pueblo County with the ballot boxes or polling locations. Still, as Election Day comes closer, Sheriff Lucero said the extra security and surveillance are to ensure that citizens have confidence that their ballots are safe and secure.
There will also be uniformed deputies at eight drop-box sites in the city and the county to ensure safety at those locations. Pueblo Police will monitor drop-boxes in the city. Emergency management staff and law enforcement will monitor security cameras located near the drop boxes.
If any suspicious and/or illegal activity is seen, law enforcement will be dispatched.
The EOC will be activated Monday afternoon, Nov. 4, and remain until at least Tuesday, Nov, 5 at 7 p.m. possibly longer if needed.
