BATON ROUGE - Two people were shot by law enforcement at the end of a police chase that ran from Chippewa Street to Balis Drive on Sunday night. State Police said the Department of Public Safety Capitol Detail officers tried to stop a white suburban on Chippewa near Daisy Avenue after a traffic violation around 8:30 p.m. LSP said the car led officers on a chase along Interstate 110 onto Interstate 10 and off on College Drive, where the vehicle turned into the neighborhood on Bawell Street around 8:45 p.m.State Police said the driver, 33-year-old Tyler Pugh, crashed into a officer's unit and then accelerated toward the officer before shots were fired. State Police said of the three people in the car, two were shot by police officers. Pugh was taken to a hospital, treated for minor injuries and then booked into parish prison. The other shooting victim was taken from the scene in serious condition and is still in a hospital. The third passenger was uninjured. LSP said the officers has been placed on administrative leave. Additional charges for the driver and passengers are pending. Permalink| Comments
