Status conference set in January for defendant in 2018 homicide

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Christopher Nathaniel Kenney wasn't transported from jail to court Monday -- he refused, saying he was sick -- but his presence wasn't necessary as all that happened was the scheduling of a status conference for early next year.
Kenney, facing charges including first-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder, is set for a status conference on Jan. 7. It's possible attorneys on that day will select a date for a preliminary hearing.

Kenney, 25, is being held without bail in the shooting that killed Jeremy Charles Littlejohn — a rival gang member — and wounded four others outside a garage on Chandler Court in 2018, authorities say.
It’s alleged Kenney participated in a reenactment of the shooting in a rap video titled “Fonk Season” posted on YouTube. His DNA was found on shell casings located at the scene, according to court documents.
