ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) -- The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that someone died during a Friday night officer-involved shooting near a Round Rock McDonald’s.
A spokesperson from DPS said the Texas Rangers are still investigating the incident and cannot release any additional details. The incident occurred at a McDonald’s at East Palm Valley Boulevard and A.W. Grimes Boulevard in Round Rock, according to the Round Rock Police Department.

“I heard several shots being fired in rapid succession, and I heard something whiz past my front door and a loud pop,” said Matthew Lee, who lives across the street from the McDonald’s.
Lee said he was sitting at his computer, which faces the McDonald’s, when he heard the shots.
“At first, it was just adrenaline,” Lee said. “I was concerned for my neighbors, myself and my kids.”
One bullet struck the wall a few feet from his front door, another one crashed through his downstairs neighbor’s window, and a third hit an outdoor pipe. But property damage was the least of Lee’s worries.
“My son was due home right when I heard the gunfire,” Lee said. “[He] was on his way home, and that could have ended really badly.”
A KXAN photojournalist on the scene said there appeared to be a body on the ground. We are working to get more information. When asked, DPS confirmed that the shooting was fatal.
