ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The East Irondequoit Central School District said a school bus carrying 10 Aquinas Institute students was hit by a bullet Monday morning. Both East Irondequoit and Aquinas said that no students were hurt. In a statement sent out to families, the district said the bus was driving along Route 104 when two windows were shattered. East Irondequoit and Aquinas said the bus was struck by a bullet, but New York State Police said the bus was hit by a projectile. Principal of The Aquinas Institute, Theodore Mancini, and President David Eustis said in a joint statement that all students on the bus have met with school counselors. "Aquinas is committed to the safety and well-being of all students. We will continue to monitor and support our students throughout today and in the future," the two added. New York State Police are continuing to investigate. The Troopers are asking the public for any information that could help in the investigation. You can call 585-398-4100. This story will be updated as more details are released.
