FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two hikers were rescued near Shaver Lake using night vision after reporting a medical emergency, according to the Shaver Lake Fire Department. Shaver Lake Fire posted on social media on Sunday that rescue crews responded around 6:45 p.m. on Old Railroad Grade. Firefighters say they located a man and woman hiker, one with diabetic problems, and had to use night vision to find them due to the challenging terrain.  Rescue crews say night vision was used to locate the hikers, who were signaling firefighters with a small flashlight to show their location. A drone also assisted the rescue operation.  The Fresno County Sheriff's Office provided additional real-time video back to the Incident Command Post.   Both hikers were helped off the mountain by the Shaver Lake Fire Department, CAL FIRE Fresno-Kings Unit, Fresno County Fire Protection District, and American Ambulance - Fresno/Kings California.
