Singleengine plane lands on Hwy 85 near Cupertino

CUPERTINO, Calif. (KRON) -- A severe traffic alert is snarling traffic on southbound Highway 85 near Cupertino after a small aircraft landed on the roadway Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. Multiple lanes are blocked south of Stevens Creek Boulevard.
The single-engine plane with one person on board landed on Highway 85 shortly after 7 a.m., CHP said. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane ran out of fuel before the emergency landing.
No vehicles on the roadway were involved in the emergency landing.
Two right lanes are closed as of 7:26 a.m. Crews are on the scene working to remove the plane.

No injuries were reported in the incident, CHP said.
Caltrans advised motorists to use Interstate 280 or Highway 17 to avoid the lane closures. There is no estimated time for all lanes to reopen.
