October weather ranks third driest on record in Massachusetts

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Western Massachusetts continues to see dry conditions with October seeing well below average rainfall.
October 2024 will go down as the 3rd driest October on record in western Massachusetts. In the month of October, Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee recorded 0.69 inches of rain which is 3.01 inches below normal.
Record-breaking warm temps, and will there be early November snow?
The driest October on record was in 1963 with 0.24 inches of rain and in second place in 1952 with 0.58 inches of rain. The mean temperature for October 2024 was 53 degrees which is right around normal.
The warmest temperature in the month was on Halloween with a high temperature of 81 degrees which was also a record breaker.
November continues to look dry with above-average temperatures.
