SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Early voting wrapped up on Friday, and now Election Day is officially one day away. Thousands of local voters will head to the polls tomorrow to make their picks. For anyone who needs a ride to the polls, CAT has you covered. Chatham Area Transit is making sure it's easy for everyone to get out and vote. CAT is offering free rides tomorrow to local polling locations for anyone who wants to vote. CAT leaders say the "Cat to the Polls" program is dedicated to enhancing civic participation by ensuring accessibility. The idea is to remove barriers keeping people from voting if they choose to do so. The zero-fare service will apply to both Cat's fixed-route and paratransit services for election day tomorrow, along with the runoff in December. The free rides run from 5 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. and as previously mentioned, the services are free and apply to both services. While Georgia's early voting period came to an end Friday evening, more than half of its active voters cast their ballot ahead of Election Day. This could help lower wait time for lines tomorrow on Election Day throughout the state. State Election data shows that the polls have seen a turnout of over 3.76 million voters so far, which represents 51% of the state's 7.2 million active voters. Polls are open tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in both Georgia and South Carolina. For more information on Chatham Area Transit's rides click here.
