RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Dominion Energy Christmas Parade has announced its Grand Marshall will be Charlie Swanson, local Olympic medalist and swimmer.
The 41st annual parade will start at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 -- kicking off in front of the Science Museum of Virginia. According to Richmond Parade Inc., the theme of this year's parade will be "Christmas Wishes," featuring Olympic medalist Charlie Swanson.
Richmond native, Charlie Swanson, represented Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympic swimming games in Paris this summer -- earning a gold media in the 4 x 100 meter mixed relay and a silver medal in the 4 x 100 medley relay race.
“Growing up in Richmond, the Dominion Energy Christmas Parade has always been a cherished tradition," said Swanson. "I am thrilled to be part of this year’s festivities and to share in the joy and magic of the season with my hometown.”
This year's parade will feature a thrilling line up -- including marching bands, dance teams, decorated floats, an appearance from Santa Claus and plenty more.
“We are incredibly honored to have Charlie Swanson as our Grand Marshal this year,” said Parade Director Tara Daudani. “His dedication, achievements, and community spirit perfectly embody the theme of ‘Christmas Wishes.’ We look forward to celebrating the holiday season with him leading the way.”
