TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island State Fire Marshal determined the cause of Friday’s fire to be accidental.
The Tiverton Fire Department said multiple oxygen tanks that were on the premises on Fairfield Avenue exploded as a result of the fire.
One occupant of the house was brought to the hospital for evaluation.
The department added a tanker was needed to help extinguish the fire due to a lack of hydrants in the area.
According to the State Fire Marshal, the cause of the explosion was due to smoking near an oxygen source.
