PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) -- Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine showed off his comedic side when he performed on an episode of SNL over the weekend. Voter Guide: November 2024 General Election The episode featured a game show skit titled "What's that name?" The skit begins with an obvious left-leaning contestant having to name certain individuals, including special prosecutor Jack Smith who brought a case against former President Donald Trump. A gag was thrown when Kaine, who's running for re-election in Virginia, walked on stage asking what his name was, effectively stumping the contestant. The skit picked fun at Kaine as he referenced his role as Hillary Clinton's running mate in 2016 at a time people also claimed was "the most important election and democracy was on the line." The skit proceeded to joke that if only Kaine was as memorable as his look-a-like Tim Waltz, putting the two side by side to point out their physical similarities as well as the name similarities. However, even the show host messed up his name, calling out Tim Scott. Virginia Candidate Profiles After moving on to other photos, the skit ends with a $10 million reward if the contestant could once again try to guess Kaine's name. He fails, resulting in an impersonator of "Handmaid's Tale" author Margaret Atwood winning. Virginia Senate Debate: Kaine and Cao face off in exclusive debate Kaine's opponent Hung Cao responded on X after the skit. "I was brainstorming 12 towns and cities across Virginia yesterday talking about how we're going to secure our border & lower prices while Tim was being a human punch-line in New York City," Cao said. Republicans argued that it violates the equal time rule since Trump's campaign said he was not invited.
