Nov 04, 2024
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man is now wanted by Memphis Police after they say he swindled nearly $2,000 from an East Memphis Office Depot last month.
On October 20, officers say they responded to a false pretenses call at Office Depot on 5510 Poplar Avenue around noon.
A man allegedly gave the cashier step-by-step instructions to ring up all of his items while he inserted his debit card and then ordered the cashier to press the cash button on the register so that a receipt would be printed out for him.
When he received his receipt, he then walked out of the store with $1,800 worth of unpaid items, police say.
