Elizabeth Cleary, vice president of Academic Affairs at Mid-Pacific Institute, explained the vision behind the Global Explorer Program.
“Our goal is to build relationships outside of our beautiful campus,” Cleary said. “We want to bring a Mid-Pacific experience to a wider audience, allowing more students to engage in meaningful learning.”
Nicole Kuamoo, interim assistant director for Global Exchange Academy at Mid-Pacific Institute, elaborated on how the program aims to benefit the community.
“The Global Explorer Program is designed to enhance educational access,” Kuamoo said. “We believe that every student should have the opportunity to learn and grow, regardless of whether they attend Mid-Pacific or another school.”
The program will feature a wide range of courses from creative arts to academic subjects.
GlobalX emphasizes that learning extends beyond the classroom and age limits. It focuses on authentic learning through experiences that connect skills rather than merely assessing them.
“We are launching our spring extended learning program with 63 different offerings,” Kuamoo noted. “Students can choose from topics like cooking, swimming, tennis, and even hip hop dance. Our goal is to provide a diverse array of learning experiences.”
Cleary emphasized the importance of inclusivity in this initiative.
“Education should not be limited to one group of students,” she said. “By opening our doors to the community, we are fostering a spirit of collaboration and understanding among diverse learners.”
The organization offers a variety of programs, including GlobalX Extended Learning (GlobalXLP) and Virtual Learning and provides meaningful courses for students from preschool to grade 12, as well as programs for adults.
Kuamoo highlighted the impact of such collaborations.
“Through the Global Explorer Program, we’re creating pathways for students to access quality education that they might not have otherwise,” she explained. “This is a way to ensure that every student can find something that resonates with them.”
The registration for these courses will be available on the Mid-Pacific Institute website, with the catalog launching mid-November.
“We want families to know that these programs are open to everyone,” Kuamoo said. “It’s a chance to experience the unique learning environment at Mid-Pacific.”
Cleary added that the program reflects Mid-Pacific’s commitment to continuous improvement.
“As we pilot these offerings, we will gather feedback to enhance future programs,” she said. “This ensures that we remain responsive to the needs of our students and the community.”
The Global Explorer Program not only benefits individual students but also strengthens the community as a whole.
