Nov 04, 2024
MISHICOT, Wis. (WFRV) - As part of the Fox Cities P.A.C Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program, Mishicot High School spent the weekend presenting its version of Disney's Newsies.
From November 1, 2024, through November 3, 2024, students at Mishicot High School worked together to present the story of Jack Kelly, the leader of a band of teenaged "newsies," and how he rallies other newsies throughout New York City to fight for what's right after titans of publishing raised distribution prices at the newsboys' expense.

Bradyn Fix, the student who played Jack Kelly, says this year's musical taught him a lot about teamwork as the group worked to put together the big songs from the musical like, "Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe.”
This has been a really great experience for me, I've gotten to know a lot of the underclassmen coming up, which has been a great experience, and then I've also gotten to bond with our seniors a lot, which we'll miss a lot next year. It's just been great getting to know the whole cast and come together as a group.

One student taking part in the show, Alexa Rezba, said it was great to see everything come together as everyone from multiple grades, including a 3rd grader, had to work together to get down the correct choreography
Senior Davin Olson, who portrayed Joseph Pulitzer, says putting everything together is fun for everyone involved with the show, and despite his character not having a ton of scenes, the scenes that he is in are "super fun."
This one specific scene that I really love to do it scares some people in the show. It's just super fun to do those scenes. I've had so many people come up to me and be like, "Davin I don't want to get on your bad side."

Davin added that the show allowed people to see him in a bit of a different light as he says he is typically seen as more of a shy person and being able to have people see him do his own solo was "really great" and "awesome."
Mishicot High School's Theater Director, Tracy Bauer, summed up the show by saying it is "about coming together and doing something to be a part of something bigger than yourself.
