COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)–  A Midlands man is one of four lottery players headed to NASCAR Championship Weekend at the Phoenix Raceway for a chance at $1 million. SC Lottery officials say Michael Wells of Columbia heard his name called during Sunday, Nov. 3’s Xfinity 500 race at Martinsville Speedway. The other three finalists announced were from Delaware, Louisiana and North Carolina. One of finalists will win $1 million in a drawing broadcasted live on NBC during pre-race coverage of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race on Sunday, Nov. 10, starting at 2 p.m. “I would love to win the $1 million and take a photo with the winner of the race. If it happens, I’m going to pay off my house and retire,” Wells told lottery officials. Wells says he’s been a faithful Powerball player for the last 20 years. He entered the Powerball Playoff Promotion back in the spring and survived a series of elimination drawings that narrowed 16 national winners down to the final four vying for the $1 million prize in Phoenix, A.Z., says lottery officials.
