Two Men Arrested And One In Critical Condition Following Attempted Robbery During Alleged Drug Deal

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Police say a man is in critical condition after being shot in the head following a robbery attempt during a drug deal.
Officers responded to a call on Saluda Street near Mount Holly Road around 12:10 a.m. Officers witnessed a man on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head, according to a news release.
EMS transported the man to Piedmont Medical Center.
Officers met with Christopher Boyd and Demetris Franklin who were on scene in a black pickup truck.
Police say they informed officers that the man who was shot tried to rob them while in the parking lot. Officers secured the area and notified the Rock Hill Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
Through the investigation, detectives learned Boyd and Franklin arrived in the parking lot to engage in the sell of illegal narcotics with the person who was shot.
Police say when the man presented a handgun to rob Boyd and Franklin, Franklin used his firearm to shoot the male.
Christopher King Boyd, 21 of Rock Hill, was arrested and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Demetris Franklin, 19 of Rock Hill, was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
The man who was shot is still in critical condition.
