One person shot while officers execute search warrant in Rocky Mount, police say

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCN) — The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is on the scene of an officer-involved shooting where one person was hit by gunfire, police said.
Officers in the Special Operations Division's Narcotics Unit and the Violent Crime Unit were executing a search warrant on the 1700 block of Windsor Street in Rocky Mount around 8:15 a.m. Monday when shots were fired, a news release said.

At this time, the person who was shot appeared to sustain non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, according to the release.
"As this incident is still under investigation, we are treating it as an officer-involved shooting," the release said. "We are relieved to report that no officers sustained injuries during the incident."
Rocky Mount police said they plan to disclose more information on the shooting at 3 p.m. at the town's City Hall Council Chambers.
