HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - In Holyoke, the city's fire department was sent to a brush fire at Mount Tom Sunday morning. Red Flag warning issued for Massachusetts after increase in brush fires Fire officials were seny to the Mount Park Area of Mt. Tom around 6 a.m. on Sunday morning. Units found a large section of wood burned between the concert area and the reservoir. The Holyoke Fire Department requested mutual aid in extinguishing the fire. They urge all visitors of the forest recreation area to avoid discarding any smoking material or start any camp fires. This comes as the National Weather Service has issued Red Flag warnings for the state this weekend. A Red Flag warning means warm temperatures, very low humidities, and stronger winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger.   Local News Headlines Correction officer arrested after allegedly smuggling drugs into Massachusetts prison Barbecue materials cause house fire in Springfield Six Flags New England offers ghoulish delights for final night of Fright Fest How to manage election anxiety as Presidential Election nears WWLP-22News, an NBC affiliate, began broadcasting in March 1953 to provide local news, network, syndicated, and local programming to western Massachusetts.
