HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - In Holyoke, the city's fire department was sent to a brush fire at Mount Tom Sunday morning.
Red Flag warning issued for Massachusetts after increase in brush fires
Fire officials were seny to the Mount Park Area of Mt. Tom around 6 a.m. on Sunday morning. Units found a large section of wood burned between the concert area and the reservoir. The Holyoke Fire Department requested mutual aid in extinguishing the fire.
They urge all visitors of the forest recreation area to avoid discarding any smoking material or start any camp fires. This comes as the National Weather Service has issued Red Flag warnings for the state this weekend.
A Red Flag warning means warm temperatures, very low humidities, and stronger winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger.
