TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Two men are dead and a driver was hospitalized late Sunday afternoon due to a rollover collision near a Lindsay cemetery, CHP Porterville announced. CHP says they received a call of a collision at Foothill Avenue and Lindmore Street near the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery at 4:05 p.m. Officers determined a white Silverado pickup truck was traveling at an unknown speed southbound on Foothill Avenue approaching a stop sign. At the same time, a Kia was traveling westbound on the thorough road of Lindmore Street. For reasons yet to be determined, CHP says the driver of the Silverado ran the stop sign and crashed into the Kia, causing both vehicles to overturn. Investigators say, as a result, both adult male occupants of the Kia died at the scene. The passenger in the Silverado fled the scene and the driver sustained major injuries. He was transported to a local hospital. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. Detectives are actively working to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision, including why the truck's passenger fled the scene.
