(KRON) – Four people are missing after a boat incident Saturday night near Bodega Bay, according to the United States Coast Guard (USCG). One person has since died and another boater is being hospitalized as crews searched for the missing individual.
According to the United States Coast Guard, an 11-year-old passenger on the boat was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old was found and hospitalized.
The USCG suspended its search around 6:30 p.m., the military branch announced. Crews would temporarily stop their search "pending the development of new information."
"The decision to suspend a search is always difficult to make and never done lightly," said Chief Warrant Officer Michael L. Zapawa. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the missing boaters during this incredibly difficult time."

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office was notified of an overdue 21-foot white Bayliner boat that was crabbing off the coast of Bodega at 11:40 p.m. on Saturday. According to SCSO, three minors and three adults were on the boat. The boaters were a family of five and a family friend.
The SCSO said a cell phone ping indicated that the boat was last near Carmet Beach around 3 p.m.

Multiple agencies collaborated in the search for the six individuals when debris was found along the coast and two of the boats were located.
According to USCG, eight rescue crews were involved in the search:

Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Air Force 129th Rescue Wing
