Rain chances arrive for Election Day as mild stretch continues
Nov 03, 2024
Sunday was one of the cloudiest days Central Indiana has seen in recent weeks. Nonetheless, these clouds are going to stick around for a while as rain chances creep up in time for Election Day. Rain will come across the state in the wake of a front.
Monday comes the first rain chance. Although it won't likely amount to much in coverage, some widely scattered showers are possible, especially in the late morning and afternoon. Dry hours are promised with the clouds sticking around. Expect highs in the lower 70s across much of Central Indiana.
For Election Day Tuesday, it will not be an all-day rain. It will be another instance where dry hours are promised. It will be a widely scattered rain to begin the day with the highest widespread chances being Tuesday night and overnight (coverage 80-90% of Central Indiana). This will be the story after sunset. Not to mention that it will be a blustery day, thanks to gusty 20-30 MPH winds.
Election Day Tuesday will also be a warm day. Our forecast high of 73° is only three degrees shy of the 76° record high from 2015. In fact, the above average temperatures will continue for the upcoming week. Forecast highs will be 10-15° above average for the most part into next weekend. This trend will continue what has been a very mild meteorological fall.
Most of the heavy rain will miss Central Indiana once again. But some decent totals could come out of Tuesday's rainfall. Another rain chance exists next weekend with another potential frontal boundary.
