Temperatures have been record breaking for the start of November, with highs in the 80s on Thursday and Friday. Typically, this time of year the average high temperature is in the 50s and some of the mountains in New England begin to see their first snowfall.
This year though, finding any cold air in the Northeast has been hard. One reason it has been so warm here in the east is the ocean temperatures. Ocean temperatures in the Atlantic and North Pacific have been well above average. This allows there to be more fluctuations in the jet stream giving us so much warm air.
If you want to find any early November snow, you are going to have to head west to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. The average snowfall for November in western Massachusetts is 2.5 inches.
