Empire award presented to local nonprofit, Thrive to Survive

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Geneva nonprofit Thrive to Survive received a New York State Empire award for surpassing $1 million in donations. To celebrate, the organization raffled off a 2024 Jeep Compass.

Senator Pamela Helming presented the award Friday, recognizing the contributions and achievements of nonprofits like Thrive to Survive, across the state. Since 2012, officials said Thrive to Survive has provided emotional, physical and financial support to adults living in multiple counties. Each have been diagnosed and are being treated for cancer.

"I mean, we were totally blown away and surprised that she chose our organization," said Jennifer Harris, the assistant director of Thrive to Survive. "Upon looking into it, we recognize it's one of the highest awards that could be offered to an organization or small business."
In regard to the Jeep raffle, participants were given the opportunity to purchase one ticket for $30 or three for $75.
