The fire damaged six homes, authorities said. Residents who were under mandatory evacuation orders due to the extent of the fire were allowed to go home around 9 p.m. Thursday night.
However, as of Friday morning, authorities said Montezuma Road between Collwood Boulevard and Fairmount Avenue remains closed.
The eastbound Interstate 8 off-ramp to southbound Fairmount Avenue, which was closed off during the fire response, reopened to traffic around 7 p.m. Thursday, according to Caltrans.
Three engine companies will patrol the rest of the night to monitor any flare ups, SDFD said. On Saturday, the crews will tackle the remaining 20% for full containment.
