Nov 01, 2024
CHAVES COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is closing the Two Rivers Dam after a flood watch advisory was issued for Chaves County.
A historic storm flooded Roswell a little over a week ago, and now officials are taking extra precautions to mitigate flood damage.
The mayor of Roswell and the superintendent of the Chaves County Flood Commission requested the corps close the dam.
Additionally, President Joe Biden approached a disaster declaration for the county. This makes federal funding available to those impacted in Roswell. They can get help with things like temporary housing, home repairs, or loans.
