Mecklenburg Co. Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Issues Fiery Public Resignation Letter
Nov 01, 2024
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Behind the scenes drama at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office is being aired out in public. The Chief Deputy resigned Friday, writing a scathing public letter about his reasons why. Kevin Canty calls Sheriff Garry McFadden “insecure” and “unprofessional.”
He says the sheriff lies and runs the department like a “third-world dictatorship.”
Sheriff McFadden tells WCCB about the resignation, in part, “We will continue to be a great agency and I am confident that we will be an even better agency tomorrow than we are today.”
