WHITEHALL, Ohio (WCMH) -- A new effort to serve people in the Whitehall community was on full display Friday night, revealing a traveling bus that will deliver essential resources to support people who need them.
City leaders unveiled what they call a "mobile city hall" -- a van that will bring a variety of services to people in the community. This is an initiative aimed at bringing necessary resources, such as health screenings, job placement and career support, for those who may be struggling with substance abuse.

The mobile city hall will be in full operation throughout the work week, traveling through different neighborhoods in Whitehall. Mayor Michael Bivens believes this is a necessary step forward.
“It's important coming from the mayor's office because we want to be where we want to, not just be responsive, but we want to be proactive,” Bivens said. “We want to let the residents know that we are here for them. We're here for them not only in the workforce, we're here for them in wellness and addiction recovery services and we're also here to solve issues.”
The idea was developed in partnership with the mayor's office, and they are hopeful this project will have a significant impact on the community.
“I think it's going to mean a lot and the fact is, is that we're going to grow this together organically,” Bivens said. “So, there's no preconceived design, we're going to go into the community, we're going to learn what their needs are, and we're going to ask them what their needs are, and then we're going to provide it.”
The Mayor's office is also asking those in the community to help name the the van. If you would like to enter your suggestion, click here.
