The Detroit Lions released their Week 9 injury designations and have ruled out two players, while the Packers list QB Jordan Love as questionable. The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers released their Week 9 injury designations on Friday, and the Lions will be without two defenders for this game, while the Packers are listing Jordan Love as questionable—with three other starters with the potential to be ruled out ahead of the game.
Let’s take a look at Friday’s injury report and get you up to date with what we know. Note that any changes from yesterday’s report will be bolded.
Ruled OUT
DL Josh Paschal (illness)
LB Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle)
DT Brodric Martin (knee) — remains on IR and in the injury evaluation window
While there was still some hope that Paschal might be ready for this weekend’s game, Lions coach Dan Campbell eliminated those hopes during his Friday morning press conference.
“He (Paschal) and Malcolm (Rodriguez) will both be out,” Campbell said. “But no, nothing long-term, which is great news, and we’re hopeful we’ll get him back next week.”
Getting Rodriguez back in Week 10 was always the hope, but it sounds like Paschal will be on the same path, which is encouraging, as his return status was not previously disclosed.
Look for the Lions to continue their edge rotation with Paschal unable to play, while Trevor Nowaske will likely see his workload increase with Rodriguez out, similar to what happened last week vs. the Titans.
Martin will remain on injured reserve but will return to practices next week, and has two weeks remaining on his evaluation clock.
Doubtful
RB Sione Vaki (knee)
DT Mekhi Wingo (ankle)
Vaki’s week took some interesting turns. On Wednesday, he did not practice. Thursday, he practiced in full. Then on Friday, he was out again. Given his doubtful status, the Lions will likely have to find someone to cover his special teams duties.
Wingo appeared to have injured his ankle on Thursday and was unable to practice on Friday, but he was working with a trainer, leaving the door open for him to potentially be available against the Packers. Wingo has been rotating both inside and out along the defensive line, and if he is unable to play in Green Bay, the Lions defensive line will need to lean on its depth even more than usual.
Not listed with an injury designation
QB Jared Goff (ankle)
LT Taylor Decker (chest)
LG Graham Glasgow (rest)
C Frank Ragnow (rest)
RG Kevin Zeitler (rest)
DL Levi Onwuzurike (rest)
DL DJ Reader (rest)
Despite Goff and Decker dealing with mild injuries, they are not listed with injury designations and will all be ready to go for this weekend’s game against the Packers.
Packers' injury designations
Rukled OUT (starters are bolded):
FS Evan Williams (hamstring)
Doubtful:
C Josh Myers (wrist)
Questionable
QB Jordan Love (groin) — 2 limited practices this week
RB Josh Jacobs (ankle) — 2 limited practices this week
CB Jaire Alexander (knee) — Did not practice this week
CB Corey Ballentine (ankle) — Limited all week
No injury designation
LT Rasheed Walker (knee)
LG Elgton Jenkins (glute)
DL Kenny Clark (toe/shoulder)
DL Devonte Wyatt (ankle)
LB Quay Walker (concussion) — cleared the NFL’s concussion protocols
If all three don’t go, that means Javon Bullard goes from nickel to safety, Keisean Nixon to nickel and Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine on the outside.Elgton Jenkins probably goes to center, Sean Rhyan to left guard and Jordan Morgan at right guard. https://t.co/RajVV2FhFh— Matt Schneidman (@mattschneidman) November 1, 2024
