ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - November has arrived, coming in with weather much more in line that what the end of October provided. Temperatures today were a solid 25° colder as gusty winds continue to veer more northerly into the night. While those winds will die down, the more northerly component will keep colder air in place through the weekend. Make it 10/10. October finishes 1.6° above average in Rochester. Every single month of 2024 has been above average (to varying degrees, no pun intended). 2024 continues to rank #1 for warmest year on record, dating back to the late 1800s. pic.twitter.com/3yOvvT1TJg— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) November 1, 2024 We'll drop into the upper 30s under mixed skies tonight. Morning lake effect clouds should give way to gradual clearing Saturday. Highs will have a hard time climbing out of the 40s despite that afternoon sunshine. Clear(ish) skies Saturday night will allow many location to drop to the freezing mark as we "fall back" with the clocks. Lake Ontario waters temperatures are running ~5° above average right now. Now that we're into November, my mind naturally gravitates to implications on lake effect. No imminent bouts of sufficiently cold air on the horizon but we all know it's just a matter of time. pic.twitter.com/tksdeODveo— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) November 1, 2024 Sunday looks good with partial sunshine and highs in the 50s before a few spotty showers develop into Sunday night. Next week will feature another dramatic warmup with 70s set to return Tuesday. Yet again, that could challenge record highs on the day.
